Movie IP MAN’s Wing Chun

The movie IP MAN’s Wing Chun event was held yesterday
at the Plaza Hollywood.  The film’s leads Donnie Yen Chi tan, Lynn Xiong
(Hung Doi Lam), Wong Yau Nam, Du Yuhang, and Ip Man’s son Master Ip Chun
attended.  Chi Tan at the event demonstrated Wing Chun with a group of
student.  Although Lynn said that she did not want to talk about Aaron
Kwok Fu Sing anymore, yesterday at the event the master of ceremonies and
other actors make fun of her.  The master of ceremonies claimed that Lynn
had a Best Actor to teach her acting.  Chi Tan joked that she did not need
a Best Actor as many experienced actors were at the scene.  Lynn
immediately looked embarrassed and just kept nodding.
Chi Tan said that his initial impression of Lynn was only that she
had a lot of gossip.  After working with her a day, he realized that her
eyes were very amazing.  He said with a laugh, “How amazing they are you
will have to ask her good friend.”  Chi Tan said that he has just returned
from Beijing two days ago.  He attended a forum at the Qinghua University.
On this publicity tour he visited more than a dozen cities, and later
would promote in Southeast Asia.  December 14 would be the birthday of
Chi Tan’s son, he said that he definitely would celebrate with his son. 
He joked that his son was very strong like Hercules.  Everyday he grabbed
the baby bed and shook it to wake them.  He joked that he could not teach
his son gong fu as he feared that he would be invincible.
Lynn and Kwok Fu Sing appeared at the airport an hour apart.  She
expressed that she returned to work in Mainland then visited her family in
Nanjing.  She heard from reporters that Sing Sing returned to Hong Kong
that day but stressed that they were not together.  Sing Sing recently
worked on SAT YUN FAN (MURDERER), reportedly he was fond of lead actress
Zhang Junning.  Lynn asked reporters, “So what?”  When asked whether she
was jealous, she immediately made a clean break with Sing Sing and said
that has nothing to do with her.  She hoped that readers from now on would
see her hard work and progress in acting, rather than something
unnecessary.

Chinese epic FOREVER ENTHRALLED (MEI LAN FONG)

The year’s most anticipated holiday Chinese epic FOREVER
ENTHRALLED (MEI LAN FONG) will “open with a bang” on December 5 at
midnight.  In the afternoon of December 2, the film held a premiere in
Beijing.  Director Chen Kaige with Leon Lai Ming, Zhang Ziyi, Chen Hong,
Sun Honglei, Wang Xueqi, Yu Shaoqun made a public appearance with a group
of creators.
At the event, master of a generation Mei Lanfang’s classic
performance scenes footage was on display, a large-scale Beijing opera
musical epic MEI LAN FANG HUA, as well as the Mei school’s famous
performing artists to reproduce the grand finale performance of MEI LAN
FANG GARDEN FULL OF FEI GUESTS.  Chen Kaige and his wife Chen Hong led
Lai Ming, Zhang Ziyi, Sun Honglei, Wang Xueqi and Yu Shaoqun gathered at a
public appearance and interviews with nearly 300 media outlets from
around the nation.
The two lead actresses Chen Hong and Zhang Ziyi both
coincidentally put on beautiful red dresses that were very graceful.  The
event opened with a 4 minute Beijing Opera performance, then the director
and actors conducted the opening ceremony, accompanied by a musical
performances of TRUE LOVE FOREVER (JUNG OI WING HUNG), a tribute to the
film’s undying theme.  Zhang Ziyi and Lai Ming even sang hand in hand the
theme song YOU UNDERSTAND MY LOVE (NEI DUNG NGOR DIK OI), leading to waves
of fan applause.
 Mei Baojiu on stage in addition to praising Director Chen Kaige
for making the film impressive also praised Lai Ming’s top notch
performance.  Whether in male or diva costumes he looked very outstanding
and beautiful, which made Lai Ming instantly blush.  Finally, Mei Baojiu
also presented a “plum flower map” to the director, as thanks to the
entire team.
 The event finally with the flying flower stage effect to
coordinate with the film’s romantic theme and ended in a song and dance
atmosphere.  Yesterday the Beijing media has already seen the film in
advanced and had nothing but praises for the film.  Reportedly the film
was packaged in three parts of “Death Parting”, “Life Separation” and
“Union and Scattering”, the romantic feelings touched many people.

Yoon Do-hyun to Step Down from TV and Radio Shows

Singer Yoon Do-hyun recently announced his intention to step down as the host of “Love Letter with Yoon Do-hyun,” a popular live music and talk show on KBS 2TV, as well as his FM radio show “Yoon Do-hyun’s Music Show.” Kim Young-jun, the president of Yoon’s management agency, said Yoon decided to focus his career on his upcoming eighth album as well as a nationwide tour that is scheduled for the end of the year. Kim also said Yoon needs time off from both shows as he is planning to launch a U.S. tour starting in March next year. Under the decision, Yoon will take part in the final pre-recording of the TV show at the end of November. Yoon, who has been hosting the popular TV show since April 2002, says he was sad to leave and thanked his fans for their constant love and support over the years. Meanwhile, singer Lee Seung-hwan has taken over Yoon’s radio show since early October.

KBS Drama ‘Hwang Jini’ to Premiere in New York

The New York premiere of the KBS drama series “Hwang Jini,” starring actress Ha Ji-won, will be held at the Korea Society in Manhattan, New York on November 12 at 6:30 p.m. The premiere event will screen the 10th and 12th episode of the drama series. Following the screening, producer Kim Cheol-gyu and Harvard University Professor David McCann, who specializes in Korean literature, will hold a discussion session with audience members. The event will also introduce “Asian Corridor in Heaven,” a KBS documentary that was included in the list of candidates for the International Emmy Awards. The drama “Hwang Jini” will go on to be aired in the United States on December 10, after which it will be aired on January 14 and February 11 in 2009. KBS recently said it is the first time that the Korea Society organized a premiere featuring a drama series by a Korean broadcasting company. “Hwang Jini” is about the life of a renowned Joseon period gisaeng that well portrays aspects of traditional Korean culture.

Bae Yong-jun to Meet Japanese Fans Via Satellite Broadcast

Actor Bae Yong-jun will meet with his Japanese fans through satellite TV. Bae’s management agency said a large-scale fan event entitled “Christmas with Family - Although We’re Far Apart” will be held at the Yokohama Arena on December 14. The event will be broadcast via satellite coverage and link Bae with his fans in Japan. Hallyu singer Ryu, Kang Cheol and Woo Sung-min will take part in the event. The special year-end event will also feature never-before-seen footage of Bae’s everyday life in Japan during his recent promotional visit. Twelve thousand tickets were sold out almost immediately after ticket sales began.
